JLG 1250 expert review
Overview
This is one of the tallest self-propelled articulating booms in the market, ideal for stadium lighting, high-rise facade work, industrial plant maintenance, and wind turbine servicing. Its articulating jib allows work over and around complex obstacles, and the dual capacity mode supports heavier tool loads when outreach is reduced. Stability is excellent at full height, aided by a solid chassis and robust outriggers where applicable.
Dual-capacity mode supports heavy loads when needed.
Transport and setup require careful planning and heavy-duty equipment.
Performance & Efficiency
The proportional control system ensures smooth movements at full extension, and the jib’s wide articulation range improves placement flexibility. The 45% gradeability allows it to handle ramps and compacted work zones, although its weight demands solid ground. Service points are logically grouped, supporting maintenance efficiency for fleet managers.
In Comparison
Compared to the Genie Z-135/70, the JLG 1250AJP offers slightly higher platform height but trades some up-and-over clearance for greater overall stability and platform rigidity at height.
Verdict
For projects where maximum height is non-negotiable, the JLG 1250AJP is a top-tier choice. It’s overkill for most jobs but invaluable for specialized high-reach applications that justify its size and transport demands.
