Overview
The ASV SR-70 is one of those compact track loaders that still makes sense if you care more about what it can do than how old it looks. It brings good lift, strong hydraulics, and soft-ground manners in a package that can still work hard for the right contractor. As a 3-star machine, though, it is very much a condition-first buy.
Performance & Efficiency
With 52.95 kW of gross power, 1,247.38 kg of lift, and 113.55 L/min of hydraulic flow, the SR-70 has the numbers to stay useful in grading, bucket work, cleanup, and attachment-driven jobs. The low 0.26 bar ground pressure is a real strength if you work on softer fill or mixed terrain, and the 55-degree rack-back angle helps loads stay settled during travel.
Maintenance & Ownership
The Perkins 804C-33T is a known engine platform, but on an older CTL like this the undercarriage, rollers, hydraulic response, and service history matter more than the badge. A good SR-70 can still be a practical machine. A tired one can become a wallet workout with tracks.
In Cabin & Interior
The cab is simple and clearly from its era. It is built to work, not charm anybody. Visibility and control layout are serviceable, but nobody is buying this machine for premium comfort or modern refinement.
Safety Features
Safety comes mainly from stable track behavior, decent machine balance, and low ground pressure on softer surfaces. Ground clearance of 0.38 m is respectable for site work, but real safety still depends on actual machine condition more than nice intentions.
In Comparison
Caterpillar 247
A familiar compact track loader with stronger badge recognition and easier market confidence.
Caterpillar 249
Another mainstream comparison point for buyers who want more resale comfort and name familiarity.
ASV SR-70
The more flotation- and hydraulics-focused option for buyers who want practical soft-ground performance and good attachment capability.
Verdict
Rated 3 stars, the ASV SR-70 is a useful compact track loader for contractors who value hydraulic strength, decent lift, and low ground pressure more than modern polish. It makes the most sense as a value-oriented used buy for grading, loading, cleanup, and attachment work, as long as the machine itself has not already had a harder life than the seller admits.
