Used Cat D5K XL 9-ton crawler dozers for sale

The Cat D5K XL is a 9-ton-class crawler dozer designed for finish grading, site preparation, road shoulders, backfilling, spreading material, landscaping, and general earthmoving where precise blade control matters more than maximum pushing capacity.

Makana’s 2015 D5K XL machines use a 4.4 L Cat C4.4 ACERT diesel engine producing 100 hp, paired with a hydrostatic transmission that provides smooth, infinitely variable travel control.

The D5K XL comes with a PAT Power-Angle-Tilt blade with approximately 2.19 m³ capacity and 2.78 m width.

Its 6-way blade can be raised, lowered, angled, and tilted, making the machine particularly useful for grading, shaping road shoulders, spreading fill, trimming building pads, backfilling, and creating finished surfaces.

Why choose a Cat D5K XL?

The XL undercarriage uses 510 mm single-grouser track shoes, providing a practical balance between traction, machine stability, and manoeuvrability on firm construction and earthmoving surfaces.

Unlike larger production dozers focused mainly on moving high volumes of material, the D5K XL is compact enough for controlled grading and site-development work where operators need to make accurate blade adjustments.

Maximum travel speed reaches approximately 10 km/h, while the hydrostatic drive allows smooth directional changes and precise speed control without conventional fixed gear steps.

A 195 L fuel tank, enclosed air-conditioned cab, and joystick blade and steering controls support regular working shifts on road projects, building pads, residential developments, and infrastructure sites.
