Used Volvo EW160D wheeled excavators for sale in UAE

The Volvo EW160D is an 18-ton wheeled excavator built for contractors who need digging performance together with fast movement between work areas. Powered by a Volvo D6H engine producing around 155 hp, it is well suited to road maintenance, utility installation, drainage, trenching, urban construction, and loading work.

Depending on the boom and arm setup, the EW160D can dig to around 6 m and reach close to 10 m. Bucket options extend to around 1 m³, giving the machine useful capacity for excavation while keeping it compact enough for road and city projects.

One of the biggest advantages of the EW160D is road mobility. The wheeled chassis can travel at up to 35 km/h, allowing contractors to move between nearby work areas without loading the excavator onto a trailer for every short relocation.

Volvo offered the machine with different support configurations, including a dozer blade and outriggers. When lowered, these supports provide a more stable working platform for digging, lifting, and material handling.

Why choose a Volvo EW160D?

The EW160D uses a load-sensing hydraulic system designed to share flow according to demand. Its main hydraulic pump provides 256 L/min, while Power Boost can temporarily increase digging and lifting forces when the job requires additional performance.

Volvo also offered attachment-management functions for breakers, shears, tilt rotators, and other hydraulic tools, making the EW160D useful beyond standard bucket excavation.

The EW160D is particularly useful for municipal work, road maintenance, drainage, pipeline installation, utility trenches, and construction inside developed areas. Its combination of approximately 10 m reach and 35 km/h travel speed allows one machine to cover several work points efficiently.
