The Cat M318D is a 20-ton wheeled excavator for contractors, municipalities, and equipment buyers who need excavation performance with better mobility between work areas. Its Cat C6.6 ACERT engine produces around 170 hp, making it suitable for utility trenches, road maintenance, drainage, loading, and urban construction.

Depending on configuration, digging depth reaches around 6 m, with working reach close to 10 m. Bucket capacities vary between machines, allowing the M318D to cover excavation, cleanup, and material-handling applications.

Unlike a crawler excavator, the M318D can travel at speeds of up to 37 km/h. This is especially useful for road contractors and utility teams moving between nearby sections of the same project or between local work sites.

Available configurations can include stabilizers and a dozer blade to improve support during excavation, together with auxiliary hydraulic lines for compatible attachments.

Why bid on a Cat M318D?

The M318D provides around 125 kN of bucket digging force, combining useful breakout performance with the mobility of a wheeled chassis. It can dig, load, reposition, and return to work without relying on a transport trailer for every short move.

That makes it particularly practical for roadside work, municipal maintenance, utility installation, and urban projects where frequent movement is part of the job.
